Profit Money's Hip Hop gamer review of Black Ops...

You know him as your local neighborhood MC ass hole... we know him as Mr. I'll Shoot You In The Face via X Box... on to the review... - LFTD

Admittedly, I haven't finished the campaign, so I'll touch on it briefly. The story is very good. You are a operative for the US Gov and at times report directly to President Kennedy. While it is immersive, the biggest problem I had were the cutscenes. Just when you've finished a pretty heavy piece of action and it feels you are about to enter more, you are pulled into another cutscene. This aside, I'd recommend the game for those that mainly play campaign modes of FPS'.

Zombies:

Zombies are back. The game mode has kept all of the good qualities of the improvements offered in the later DLC maps and gives them right off the bat. There are 2 actual zombie maps, and a top down Contra-esque zombie map called "DOA". Not only can you play with a few friends at the house, but now you can take your friends to XBox live and play there as well (more on that later).

My favorite part of Zombies is probably the map called "Five" which is a reference to the maps setting, The Pentagon. You play as one of 4 characters: John F Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Secretary of Defense at the time Robert McNamara, and oddly enough, Fidel Castro. The map has many levels to descend into. I still haven't figured it out entirely, as I've only played it once with Akshun. But there's this scientist that for some reason will walk up to you and take your gun, or separate you from your party (and you can't do shit about it), and you have TO rely on team communication to find your way back. Very fun.

On a side note: If you want to unlock all of the zombie maps without having to go through gameplay, I have a code for you:

When at the main menu, press RT and LT alternatively, rapidly, to break free from your chair. Go around to the back of the room and press X to get onto the computer. Type in: 3ARC UNLOCK and press enter. This will unlock ALL of the zombie maps. Not sure if it takes away achievements to use with caution.

Multiplayer:

This is by far my favorite part of the game and pretty much the only reason I play the series anymore. Many of the complaints so far have been about the graphics, which are on par with MW2 at best. I've had no problems with them really. I guess others were expecting some big advancement. But when you consider that this is a game made separately from IW's MW2, the graphics HAVE improved since Treyarch's last release in the series, CoD: World at War.

The other complaint is sound. Treyarch intentionally nerfed it. Many players had an advantage if they went out of their way to buy a set of Turtle Beach headphones and Treyarch apparently saw this as a disadvantage and inherently unfair to the players who either didn't know of such headphones, or didn't have the money for them. Either way, I agree that it is very unfair to a person who has shelled out 60 bucks for this game, only to have someone who shelled out an extra 120 bucks for the headphones slaughter them anytime they get near. That said, I disagree with the amount they have reduced the sound.

Your own footsteps seem crazy loud and it is nearly impossible to hear when someone is around you, even if you are still. I never felt I was at a disadvantage with the sound as it was, I actually did better because I could just turn around and kill whoever was pursuing me trying to get an easy knife kill and I did it with the sound as it was through my TV, without headphones. Now I have to rely on shadows from the sun or the reaction of teammates as an indicator of enemy locations in my vicinity. This is supposedly changed with the Ninja Pro perk. Though I haven’t used it, I’ve heard that it doesn’t improve the sound of enemy players much at all.

A glaring omission in the “Perks” is Stopping Power (Though Juggernaut has not made a return either). The lack of SP makes guns like the 3 round burst M16 and the single shot M14 (Think M1A1 from WaW) and FAL all but pointless to everyone but the most accurate of players.

However, the lack of Stopping Power means that if you run out of ammo, and are proficient on the wide array of weapons Black Ops offers, you stand the same chance as the next man who has that specific weapons system equipped on a dedicated class.

They’ve nerfed sniping considerably, and quick scoping has been strongly discouraged as even the developers have been quoted as saying it is a cheap way to play, and not at all intended purpose of a sniper rifle, a fact obvious to anyone with a brain. The maps vary, but very few are even remotely friendly to snipers, as the porousness of a map allows for many ways to sneak up on a sniper. Couple this with the fact that they can only have one Claymore, and cannot use Scavneger Pro to get more after the first one was used, and it is all but impossible for a sniper to cover all Avenues of Approach adequately.

COMMANDO PRO IS GONE! This will come as a welcome relief to a lot of you guys, especially Jcart lol. The biggest complaint of MW2 has got to be the introduction of the Commando Perk. It allowed a player to avoid a close ranged death by allowing him to knife from halfway across the room, regardless of whether he was being shot at or not. Many players (Myself included) combined this perk with Marathon Pro and Lightweight Pro to become essentially an unstoppable running and knifing machine. Those of you who like to camp a room, or just control an area while knowing your back is covered, will also be pleased to learn that no combination of Marathon and Lightweight allows you to simply run past Claymore Mines any more either. In this respect, the game has gained some sorely needed balance.

Most of the perks are the same, but one new perk deserves some mention: Hacker and Hacker Pro. With this perk it allows you to see enemy Claymores, Turrets, and Equipment. When you buy the upgrade (The game has a point systems like currency called “CoD points” as opposed to “Unlocking” a perk. Weapons still need unlocked but must be purchased as well, including attachments and customizations like reticules, reticule colors, shapes, and lens colors) you are able to “hack” the enemies turrets and if you steal a care package, you will leave the care package box behind, but booby trapped so that the enemy tries to pick it up and is killed when it detonates.

The spawn system is a terrible, buggy, piece of shit, and seems to spawn enemies randomly until you realize that the game doesn’t give a fuck if you are in the enemy spawn or not, people are going to spawn there, making turning your back once there a dumb move.

You earn money by purchasing completing “Contracts” in a given time. Harder contracts cost more but allow more time to complete and obviously yield a great ROI.

Your player emblem is now customizable with different shapes, numbers, and letters (up to ‘E’, I’m assuming to prevent offensive words being used) and up to 12 ‘layers’ you must purchase in a sort of mini-Photoshop arrangement.

All player stats, like KDR, weapons killed by, best weapon used, Death heatmaps, kills heatmaps, and other options previously available only on the CoD website, are now accessible straight from your player card. The catch is, other players can see this too. So unless you really ARE good, keep your shit talking to a minimum, cuz I WILL check. You also have the ability to save clips or entire games on your profile in “Theater” mode; it also allows you to bring your entire gameplaying party seamlessly entire the Theater to watch your clips with you. However, you can only upload (at the moment) clips UNDER 30 seconds to the CoD website, which you can link your YouTube page to to publish automatically there as well.

As I stated earlier, you can now bring up to 3 friends online with you, from the same XBox. This is very good for those who are having a casual get together and have always wanted to have your friends play with you, instead of the boredom suffered waiting for the sticks to make the rounds. But don’t plan on taking your matches serious, as the split screen takes some time to get used to and severely hampers your field of vision, and as such, your gameplay.

I’m VERY dissappointed TreyArch did not include vehicles in this game, but I digress.

The compensated for this somewhat by including all new controllable killstreaks like the RC-XD and the Gunship.

The RC-XD is a killstreak reward earned at 3 kills with no deaths. It takes you out of your character (So use it somewhere safe, like a room with one door protected by claymore) and into a remote controlled car which you drive up to an enemy and then detonate using the trigger. It is possible for the enemy to shoot it before you reach him, so choose your approach wisely. If your car is being shot at, a simple push of LB for the Turbo Button should get you through the fire to quickly kill the enemy.

The Gunship (Earned at 11-0) is a BEAST of a reward as it is something like Chopper Gunner (Now earned at 9-0) except that you are in an Apache Helicopter and you ALSO control the helicopter. So now you don’t have to wait for the chopper to swing around to get those enemies hiding driectly behind a building, you can maneuver there on your own. It throws out flairs, making it hard to bring down in just 2 missile strikes, usually requiring 4.

Another new AWESOME edition is the SR71 Blackbird (Available at 8-0; Akshun LOVES this reward). This KS reward is something like Spy Plane (The new name for UAV) except that it tells you the enemy location in REAL TIME (No scans) and even tells you what direction they’re facing and the location of all turrets and sentry guns they have on the map. While it doesn’t directly generate kills for the user, it is well worth it for the amount of kills you can indirectly rack up from the intel.
The last new feature I can think of right now is the addition of the “Combat Training” lobby.

This is a sort of “Single Player” multiplayer in which you play against dummy (or robot) players that use the names from your friends lists. You can choose the difficulty at which you want to play, and even rank up as you normally would online, however the credits, weapons, killstreaks, and stats do not transfer over once you go Live. They are exclusive that particular game mode. Combat Training is particularly good for improving, trying out new techniques, trying out new weapons, or pretending you have friends. Also, if you are one of the people that let your Xbox Live sub go as a result of the economy, I’d imagine it being a fun way to pretend your online, while getting better once you can actually do so.

All in all I would heartily recommend this game to ANYONE who is holding out. The campaign is solid. The multiplayer has been DRASTICALLY balanced and Zombies are as fun as ever. No matter what originally drew you to the series, this game appears to be the pinnacle of the years of refinement the series has had.
I urge you to at least rent the game and give it a go.

6'6 240 - The Story (1999 Unreleased)

A Unreleased track from 6'6 240 recorded back in 1999, produced by 227 Digitalmasterz aka DJ MonstaLung lost in the infamous studio fire that destroyed quite a large amount of SoundVizion music from that era and put a huge set back in their movement. I wish I would have had this back then... it would have been one of my favorite 6 songs from that era.

Throw back songs from the Capital City aka The Chuck aka Charleston aka...

I was reading some chatter on the WVRapScene forums and there was some doubt that Charleston had 20 rappers in it with a high level of talent. I was listening to some old music on my computer and decided maybe I should give a little bit of shine to a few guys who didn't really have the internet presence that they should have back when their name was really really buzzing in the streets of Charleston.

Plenty Rock hosted the Kings of the Capital City Pt.3 mixtape with Charlie Blac and Crazy Chris and this was one of his Freestyles off of it... Dude sold TONS of his 2 mixtapes.
Plenty Rock - Stand Up Freestyle by LiveFromTheDub

H Boogi for several years was the hottest thing there was in Charleston. If you were trying to sell a mixtape on the corner the first words from West Siders was "Is there some H Boog on it?" if there wasn't they might not buy it...

Santana Blue is a dude who's worked with just about everybody that there is to work with in Charleston and his group with Mic Rude "Extra Everything" was picking up steam recently before a studio break in lost over a whole projects worth of music. In and out of jail in his career he's had some set backs that left his music sporadic at best.

K Kutta ft Avery Storm - Sex Game

K Kutta has been doing it super huge lately and he doesn't appear to be stopping. You might remember Avery Storm from his hooks on hit records with Nelly and Rick Ross among other songs. Kut linked up with him last week and they dropped this record for the ladies. From what I heard they are just waiting on label approval from A. Storm's label to shoot the video. I've been trying to tell everybody that West Virginia's hip hop scene is bubbling something fierce right now. Kut is helping lead the way... on to the music.

Meuwl - Tools of the Trade

I always loved this picture... yes that is light being captured in mid air that is the PIST that Meuwl used occasionally. Super creative...

This is THE song that established Meuwl as an artist to look out for in WV. This graffiti writers anthem brought B-Boys, Writers and Backpackers to his shows by the boatload for years. I've seen this performed live if not 100 times damn close and it is still one of my favorite songs of his.

Meuwl - Tools of the Trade prod by 95 by LiveFromTheDub

P.S. This is the only version of it I could find. It's the version off of the Nine Nick Bags of Funk Pt.2 CD that is minus the "Hi my name is" sample in the middle. If you have the full version can you please email it to us at LiveFromTheDub@gmail.com and I'll replace it on SoundCloud for everybody! Thanks

Haggard Twins - Discombobulated

With the retirement of Paycheck Game this past week and Meuwl's passing last year. I guess this means that Haggard is officially over. It became yet another sad day in hip hop when I drew this conclusion...

Check and Muewl tear this to shreds. The Busey sample is classic.

So the man retires and then leaks on WVRapScene, what is probably the album of the year, without a single Tweet, Facebook status update, Ad on a website any form of advertising... Featuring beats from Geedy Beats, LipBeats, 95, Profit Money and DJ MonstaLung and a few super hot guest verses from 6'6 240, Ace Beanz and Dirty Hun the album is very good.

"Keeping it real with the awesomist" - L No catches up with B Rude... DayOne!

L No and B Rude performing together at the Meuwl Memorial Show in Morgantown...

Keeping it real with The Awesomist

This next interview is one that’s very near and dear to my heart kiddos. That would be of course, because today’s interview subject is none other than B. Rude (aka Skranton Wiles, The Awesomist, Gingerbread Wolfboy, Bruder, Dr. Brudoculous…ok you get the drift). I’ve known B and his brother Mic Rude since I was in the 6th grade, and young B was just the one of the younger brothers taking shit from the big brothers at any given backyard soccer match/skate sesh.
Since then, as many of you know, B. Rude has gone on to release 4 records both as a solo act and with the Rabble Rousers, Killer Affiliates and as Rude Brothers (plus others). He’s also dropped an entire novel of quotables over the years, both on and off the mic. Since fellow Rabble Rouser and Dayone Media founder Meuwl’s passing one year ago, B’s gone through a bit of a transition. He’s most recently been on tour with the new supergroup Dinosaur Burps (with DJ Squeezle, also of Rabble Rousers), and recording for a new album. Spread the awesome, y’all…

L-NO: How did it feel to finally take your live show to some new venues in new places? You’ve been killing it in WV for years now, but this is your first multi-state tour. How did it come about and what was it like?

B. Rude: Naturally, I was kind of nervous at first… but then I just blocked that out and said "fuck it, fuck 'em if they don’t feel it. I like me and what I do.” I came about getting on the tour by perusing Facebook and saw that my homeboy, Raymond Strife, who had been to WV several times on tour was talking about it and I pretty much invited myself.

L-NO: How did the tour go? What was your favorite show? Tell us a bit about it, and any other random tour shenanigans that may have come about.

B. Rude: The tour went really well. 7,000 Miles in a bitchin Corolla. There were some small snags here and there; nothing major though. Just along the lines of bad sound and not getting paid, but I could really care less about the money. I couldn’t really say which was my favorite show but Lansing is the shit. Played with a couple of good punk bands, had a b-boy breaking in Minneapolis, Wisconsin got a little crazy when we took over this dudes apartment after the show. There are some other shenanigans and debauchery that I can’t really talk about if ya know what I mean.

L-NO: What was the worst show?

B. Rude: There really weren’t any bad shows, everybody we met was really cool.

L-NO: Do you have any plans for future tours or local shows yet?

B. Rude: I do believe (there are shows) December 17th at The Blue Parrot, X-Mas at The Empty Glass, and New Years at The Blue Parrot . Tour plans are soon to be in the works for the spring. If anybody has any connects send them to me at b.rude94@gmail.com.

L-NO: How is the recording going for the new album? You’ve been working down in Fayetteville with The Yetti, has it been different recording with a band as opposed to just yourself and a producer?

B. Rude: Recording has been going really well, got some real ground breaking stuff going on. There’s really not a whole lot of difference, because not only are they playing live instruments they also do a lot of chopping and looping with random obscure samples. Benny C. and The Brad are madmen and very talented dudes in the studio.

L-NO: Do you have a title for it yet or are you still working on that? Who is featured on the album? (Either producers or guest MC’s)

B. Rude: The title is still up in the air but we have been thinking of "Mother Nature Wants You Dead", "Things You Can’t Unhear (Yetti Burps)", "Awesome Stuff We Did When No one Was Looking", “Gingerbread Wolfboy & The Chocodile”, and a few others. I got some people I would like to hopefully get on the album, but I’m not gonna drop any names since there’s been no confirmations as of yet. I’m hoping to get an L -NO verse for the album. Most of the production on this will be by The Yetti and the late great Meuwl.

L-NO: Are there plans to shoot any videos for the album?

B. Rude: Yes there are. I’m just more concerned with getting the recording done first.

L-NO: Do you have plans to do an online store or something similar for people to cop the new album when it’s done, or will you be doing strictly physical copies?

B. Rude: I would like to set something up on the interwebs , but I’m just not tech savvy and I’m lazy as shit!

L-NO: How do you feel your newest music represents the Dayone foundation that’s been built over the last several years?

B. Rude: I think it’s going to represent Dayone bad assidly. Shit just keeps getting better, minus the absence of Meuwl of course, but you know you just gotta keep stuff moving. That’s what he would have wanted.

L-NO: How do you plan on taking that foundation to the next level?

B. Rude: I try not to plan too much, I kind of just go with the flow and let stuff happen but I definitely want Dayone/Rawkid to be known nationwide… we'll start with that.

L-NO: Why haven’t you done a producer/MC tape with L-NO yet? Haha…

B. Rude: You can’t rush the awesome! When the time is right (it’ll happen), plus like I said I’m a lazy fat shit.

L-NO: Shout out your people son son

B. Rude: Shouts to beef jerky, cheap cigs and rotgut whiskey. Carpet, people that were willing to let us take over their homes and put up with our bullshit. Medicinal herbs, Newark trap houses, everyone on the tour(Ray Strife, Dinz, Mr. Faricker, Roebus One & everybody else),TJ Sigmon, beer, and all my Dayone Rawkid fam and the whole state of WV!

Paycheck Game releases note to fans concerning his retirement from the mic...

A very sad day for WV hip hop fans... the one and only Paycheck Game released this message about his retirement from the Mic. Damn....

PAYCHECKS WORDS AS POSTED ON WWW.WVRAPSCENE.COM
i want them to remember what i stood for and what i represented.

with that said, i'm writing this note to let the world know i am moving on with my music and going to spend full time behind the boards. this decision isn't one of those "i quit the board and i quit makin music" only to come back a few months later re-energized. this decision has been coming for some time now, and it comes down to quality of music i make and having the passion as i once very much did for rappin.

the game is much different from when i started. i am in no way saying my age has any factor in this, but my brand of product is not what's selling in this era. And I WON'T MAKE THAT TYPE OF MUSIC TO SELL RECORDS.

but it goes far beyond just makin money and trying to get a deal. this has to do with really not feeling ANYTHING I've put out since The Graveyard Shift. I keep trying to force my self to write to these songs but it feels like it's empty words. the delivery is there, it'll always be there. but the lines aren't getting wrote with that same ol crazy check's hands...they're being written by heavily medicated hands that have lost the edge to pen the wickedist shit you ever heard. and i'm cool with that. so is my wife who has seen a lot less violent tendencies from me as well as i've avoided jail for a couple years so that part of my life's now straight.

my abilities as a producer will be my main focus moving forward, as well as grooming artists to shop, beat placements to heavy hitters in the industry, etc etc.

wvrapscene will continue on as it is. expect to see more members joining soon and make them feel welcome.

to soundvizion: what needs to be said? We family dog I RIDE FOR YOU YOU RIDE FOR ME! Thank you for listening to my demo i made in my single wide trailor with a 4 channel mixer and an extra tapedeck. man was i hungry back then. 6-you're my brother. You've always been my bro. i can't put into words how proud i am of my little brother. you were my competition, my confidant, we still released our first album through turmoil, studio's buring and getting robbed. That album is my favorite out of all em because even on the album cover (a burnt down studio) you could see the struggle that was made to salvage tracks. beans- you a real good friend that i respect to the fullest. Many blunts and many conversations about what's going on with the clique and what's good or bad on the streets. always my source for the hood info. beanz, patience is a virtue...i see you bubblin up!!! Chief, my brother from another mother born on the same damn day as me fuckin chief rocka....my dude....always.

we had some great times as 304 Reconz and i'm just sorry that i had to miss all the great times you had since 6 blew up. you know i'm always there in spirit.

to Meuwl: words can't express how much i miss you buddy. everytime i talk about you i get real mad at you, my grieving stages haven't fully cycled i guess. i mean shit happens sam. it happens to the best of 'em. It DID HAPPEN TO THE BEST. and that's why i'm mad. why did it have to happen to you? you were truly and underground graff legend and so fuckin sick with the wordplay. That whole time in charleston with you, however brief, was one of the greatest times of my life. when we first met we were peers in the game. sam later became a close friend who would do anything for anybody. we really kicked it on that haggard shit.

i'd be lying if i said Meuwl's passing didn't have a part in this decision. i'm still tore up. it's kinda like the day hip hop died for me. i haven't been the same since. love ya, man.

for those who don't know paycheck game IS greedy beatz....it was really no secret just a split personality per se.

so i'm leaving you with this. i thank everyone of my fans that have ever just wanted an autograph or to smoke a blunt with them. Those who quote your lyrics word for word. All of Webster County now has my back. i thank all the producers, artists, and studios i've had a chance to work with.

I gave this rap shit long enough. I made classic stellar albums that speak volumes of the production value. i made drug songs, sad songs, uplifting music, funny shit. my catalog is stacked. and i own it.

i've helped change people's lives. Grown men have told me that "surrounded by angels" made them cry. that's was my movement. emotional music without being emo.

I'VE PAID MORE DUES THAN MOST OF YOU SO AT LEAST GIVE ME THAT.

i still love hip hop but i don't think hip hop loves me anymore.

so my mind's made up. a great pressure has lifted off of my shoulders. i'll still be around on a random remix or a rare gem but Paycheck IS DONE.

ps the autobiography of the guillotine will be my "chinese democracy"
